Care That Grows with Them

Children get the same aches adults do. They just arrive by different routes, and they're far less likely to mention it until it's been going on a while.

Back and neck pain, joint pain, and the aches that follow a growth spurt, when the skeleton has moved faster than everything attached to it.

Then there's the school bag, worn on one shoulder, every day, for years. It's the single most common thing we end up talking to parents about, and the fix is usually free.

Appointments are short and a lot less serious than adult ones. We explain what we're doing to the child rather than over their head to you, and you're in the room throughout.

Teenagers are often in genuine discomfort and are often the last to say so.

Between sport, a growth spurt, exam terms spent hunched at a desk and a phone held at chest height for hours a day, the fifteen-year-old spine takes a beating. We see sporting injuries, back and neck pain, shoulder complaints and joint pain constantly in this age group. Putney being Putney, a fair amount of it arrives in rowing kit.

We talk to them, not about them.

That sounds like a small thing. It isn't. A sixteen-year-old who understands what's going on with their own back is far more likely to do the exercises, mention it when something changes, and go to someone about it at twenty-five instead of ignoring it for a decade.

Parents are welcome in the room. Plenty of teenagers would rather they weren't, and that's fine too, provided everyone's agreed on it beforehand.
