Traffic in and around Putney

A quick update of our thoughts on the traffic in and around Putney.

Our owner Craig Mclean shares some ideas as to how to minimise stress in getting to us with the increased amount of traffic in Putney since the road works south of the Putney Bridge in Jan 2025.

Road works at Putney Bridge
Well we survived the road works in Dec/Jan 2024/25 at Putney Bridge but we're left with still quite a few challenges. The positive is it's much simpler to cross the high street south of Putney Bridge as a pedestrian. As much as we love it when you arrive via foot, public transport, cycle or lime bike, here are Doc Craig's top tips for motorists to help you make your journey to Putney Chiro smoother.

Coming from the East. (Wandsworth/Clapham)
Putney Bridge Road intersection into the High Street has some of the worst queues we've seen. Consider either parking up at Wandsworth Park and walking the last 5/10 mins (the walk after your adjustment will help things bed in even better) or staying on the Upper Richmond Road and turning right at the Leisure Centre (not between 7am-10am).

Coming from the West. (Barnes, Sheen, Richmond)
The Lower Richmond Road traffic especially before 9:30am has been miserable. Again consider parking up in any of the streets in the west end of Lower Richmond Road and walking the last 5 minutes.

From the North and South
If you are coming from the Fulham direction, try for a midday appointment as the bridge flows freely though the midday hours. We have extensive availability throughout the middle of the day. If travelling down the A3 from the south, turn down Roehampton lane as opposed to continuing to the Putney high street.

As a cyclist I'm not sure who has made the designs for Putney Bridge traffic 'improvements' the two small allocations to try and make things safer for cyclists has ended up making the congestion so bad all cyclists are put at more risk. If anyone knows the person at Wandsworth Borough or TFL in change send me their details, I'd love a chat. Thanks Craig
