Mindful Monday - June 21st

Good morning and welcome to week 25 of 2021!

‘“We have such a long way to go” sighed the boy.
“Yes but look how far we have come” said the horse.’
- The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse, by Charlie Mackesy

Thanks Chuck. I love your book.

How’d you get on experimenting with some of the healthy basics from last week?
More water perhaps?
Some extra sleep?
Like most good things for our health, consistency is the key so keep up the good work!

Spicy goodness
Curcumin and black pepper could be the healthiest spice combo going around. Both have huge anti-inflammatory powers, while curcumin has also been linked to improving depression and good old black pepper helps regulate blood sugar levels. Taken together, the curcumin helps us absorb the best bits of black pepper by a factor of 2,000%. That’s a lot of percent. Read more here.

Easy breathing greens
Have you ever wondered which is the best plant to help you breathe? Yeah, NASA has, too. They tried and tested a bunch and came up with their top 8 plants to clean the air you breathe. Thank you NASA, and thank you PLANTS.

Powerful pickle juice
Cramping during (or after) sport totally sucks, but for a good few years now, the previously little known secret of pickle juice has become more widely known. Outside Magazine does a great job of walking us through the joys of making our own PJ here. Yummy.

Free your feet
I’ve spent the past few weeks so exclusively in my Vivobarefoot shoes that I simply forgot that I had. They’re great. I feel more connected to the ground (sounds weird, but it’s true) and they don’t look as strange as other barefoot shoe options out there. Six months in these generally leads to a 60% increase in foot strength. Brilliant. Learn more here and see where they take you…

"That thing that made you weird as a kid could make you great as an adult — if you don’t lose it."

I wish you a spicy, pickled, clean air-filled, grounded week!

Big love,
Luke X
