Two weeks earlier than expected, the £1.5m of repairs will come to an end with Putney Bridge set to reopen on Friday September 26th. The Grade ll listed bridge has been closed all summer and the drop in traffic has given Putney a kind of village feel.
The repairs began on July 14 and were originally timetabled to last a total of 12 weeks but due to the quick and efficient work of FM Conway Ltd the improvements have been speeding ahead. They apparently had a fantastic group of engineers and project managers who must have broken some kind of record by finishing the work early!
Putney bridge not only provides a link between the north and south, it also provides another aspect to our iconic London cityscape. How lucky we are that we can keep these beautiful bridges maintained.
