Prudential London Ride 100

The Prudential Ride London 100 mile sportive hit London the first weekend of August 2013 and what an amazing event it was. The cyclists reclaimed the streets of London and Surrey and we had such a great time speeding through the traffic free streets.

Doc Craig entered as part of a team from his local cycling club London Dynamo and we sped to the front of the event within about 10 kms from the start. From there it was hang on for your life. Four big bumps were between us and the finish and the mere 100miles! There was Newlands Corner, Leith Hill (an absolute killer), Box hill and the small but painful Wimbledon Village hill at the 90 mile mark. We essentially followed the course the London 2012 Olympics took but we only went up Box Hill once (that was enough).

I somehow managed to stay with the chiseled whippets up the hills and was at the pointy end of the peloton until the finish. My time was the 40th fastest of the day and but for a fall in-front of me at the last bend turning into The Mall I would have been contesting the sprint finish. I thought it was a ride not a race? Well we didn’t stop for the entire 4 hours and 06 mins as it would have been curtains! The average speed was just under 25mph or 40kmh for 4 hours!

See you next year! Well done to all our clients who completed the event!
