N.I.C.E. guidelines

The National Centre for Clinical Excellence, who advise the NHS, has made a long overdue recommendation that Chiropractic is one of the treatments of choice for low back pain. It recommended a twelve week course of chiropractic treatment should be considered for people who have suffered low back pain for a period of between 6 weeks and 1 year.

It also suggested that spinal injections and physiotherapeutics like ultrasound, laser, interferential, TENS and traction be avoided due to their ineffectiveness.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health.
