Blenheim Palace Triathlon
Dr Craig Mclean and CA Gail headed off to the
beautiful setting of Blenheim Palace recently to take part
in the location's first triathlon, along with around 2200
other athletes.
Swim, bike and run
Despite torrential rain the day before, only one thermal and
a ski jacket was required at registration time of 7am, and
by 10am the thermal was fine on it's own...
The race consisted of a swim in Blenheim lake, a cycle around
the fabulous grounds and then a run.
Exhausted but triumphant
Craig, leading the race initially, blew a gasket and exited
the water in around 20th position, but with good transitions
and a solid bike ride finished in around 1hr 22. Gail managed
4th out of the 14 degree water and 11th overall which she
was pretty happy with for her third ever triathlon attempt.
There was a huge variety of people and fitness levels, but
everyone had a good time and reached their goals. Why not
give it a try?
