Heart rate variability, WHOOP & Chiropractic

Heart rate variability (HRV) refers to the variation in times between successive heartbeats, which can indicate the ability of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) to adapt to changes in the environment. Higher HRV is generally associated with better health outcomes, while reduced HRV has been linked to various health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and depression. WHOOP is the wrist worn device that records your daily strain, sleep, HRV and recovery and combines a super useful app to allow you to improve your lifestyle choices which can improve your overall health.

Chiropractic care may help improve HRV by promoting the function of the ANS, which is responsible for regulating the body's vital functions such as heartbeat, breathing, digestion, and immune responses. Chiropractors use manual manipulation techniques to address misalignments in the spine, which can interfere with the normal functioning of the ANS. By restoring proper alignment and mobility of the spine, chiropractic care may help reduce stress and tension in the nervous system, allowing for better communication between the brain and other parts of the body.

While there is some preliminary evidence to suggest that chiropractic care may improve HRV in certain populations, more research is needed to determine the effects of this treatment approach on HRV and overall health outcomes. As with any healthcare intervention, it is essential to consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine if chiropractic care is appropriate for your needs.

Below is the episode of the podcast recorded by our own chiropractors Drs Craig and Conor all about whoop, HRV and chiro.
